Krakow in October and November is one of those underrated romantic city break ideas. The crowds thin out, the leaves turn, the cafes get cosy, and pierogi taste better when its cold outside. Three days is perfect.
Day by Day
Day 1
- Morning.
- Coffee on the Rynek Glowny, walk to Wawel Castle.
- Afternoon.
- Wawel grounds, then down to the Vistula for a walk.
- Evening.
- Dinner in Kazimierz at Klezmer-Hois or Starka.
Day 2
- Morning.
- Schindler's Factory museum - heavy but essential.
- Afternoon.
- Slow afternoon, Cafe Camelot for cake.
- Evening.
- Vodka tasting at Wodka Cafe Bar, then dinner.
Day 3
- Morning.
- Wieliczka Salt Mines day trip if you want.
- Afternoon.
- Or stay in town, pierogi lunch at Pierogarnia Krakowiacy.
- Evening.
- Last drink at a Kazimierz courtyard bar.
Where to Stay
- Budget. Greg & Tom Hostel - long-running, friendly.
- Mid-range. Hotel Wentzl - on the Rynek itself.
- Splurge. Hotel Copernicus - tiny, historic, beautiful.
Where to Eat
Starka
Beautiful Polish food, romantic setting.
Pierogarnia Krakowiacy
Pierogi heaven, cheap, no fuss.
Cafe Camelot
The cake-and-coffee place to fall in love in.
One local tip nobody tells you
Skip the horse carriages on the Rynek. Walk to Kazimierz instead - that's where the real city is now.
