Strasbourg Alsace Weekend
Strasbourg, France
Strasbourg works year-round but is at its absolute best at Christmas - the markets here are some of the oldest and prettiest in Europe. Outside December, come for Petite France, the cathedral, and the Alsatian food which is basically a love letter to butter.

One local tip nobody tells you
Visit Colmar (30 min by train) as a day trip - prettier even than Strasbourg in parts, and far smaller.
